Inspirations for this Game

This is Saiken online, a new diceless, text-based, non-multi-user-dungeon online RPG.

Like many before it, including Castlevania Disharmony, this is a game where logic and writing skills rule over luck and power gaming. If you are looking for a game where big numbers earn you "respect", I suggest you leave. It's all about writing.

Despite the fact this game is not a dice-style game, many features from this game are taken from the Shadowrun, BESM, D10 and D20 system. Well, not too many rules are from that system, but MANY things are based on the creatures, classes, races, abilities and world of Oriental Adventures and Rokugan. This site was inspired by the sites listed above, as well as a healthy session of Kal Online, history, myth and many other sources.

Although many things in Saiken online are taken from the world of Rokugan, it is by no means a blatant copy. You need not know the world of Rokugan at all in order to play, simply basic Asian folklore (more specifically, Korean, Japanese, Chinese and Vietnamese) and history. Actually even knowledge of that isn't required, although you would probably enjoy reading about it anyways.
